Chas. W. Cook & Sons Ltd. Birmingham Magnetic Barrier Separator This item was removed from a university laboratory where it was surplus to requirements. This magnetic barrier separator was primarily used for the separation of dry materials based on magnetic susceptibility and the purification of quartz for luminescence dating. We don’t know exactly when the magnetic separator was last used, but it would have been at least 5 years ago. As far as we know there were no issues with it when it was still in use. The unit is in good condition considering its age, though it may be missing some unknown small parts. Includes: • Screw terminals for power supply connection. • Two brass sample collection buckets, approximately 50ml each. • Two small sample funnels; one made of brass and the other of aluminum. • Adjustable axes with wheels for magnet positioning.
